Ability Space works with schools across Australia to create calming sensory environments that support students with diverse sensory needs.
Sensory rooms provide a safe and engaging space for children through to adults with autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorders and other needs. These environments promote self-regulation, reduce anxiety, and encourage learning through sensory stimulation.
Web Design
The design draws inspiration from the atmosphere of a sensory room. The visual language uses:
- Soft animated colour gradients
- Gentle movement through a moon and star motif
- Clean layouts with plenty of breathing room
- A cool palette that avoids over-stimulation
The goal was to create a digital experience that mirrors the calm students feel when entering one of Ability Space’s environments.
School Case Studies
A flexible case study format showcases completed sensory rooms in a consistent way. Each project highlights:
- The school context
- The purpose of the room
- Key features included in the design
- Photos that show both the detail and overall atmosphere
This helps schools visualise what is possible in their own setting.
